Pushbroom Hyperspectral Imaging for Material Classification

Hyperspectral cameras covering UV, VNIR, NIR and SWIR spectral ranges — enabling material identification, contamination detection and chemical differentiation where conventional RGB imaging falls short.

Technology Overview

Hyperspectral Imaging Beyond RGB

Resonon designs pushbroom hyperspectral imaging cameras that capture hundreds of spectral bands simultaneously, delivering per-pixel spectral data across the full visible and non-visible spectrum.

Unlike standard cameras that capture only three colour channels, hyperspectral cameras provide a full spectral fingerprint for every pixel — enabling the identification and classification of materials based on their unique optical properties rather than visual appearance alone.

Resonon systems are specified when inspection requires reliable material discrimination, contamination identification or chemical analysis at production-line speed — capability that is fundamentally impossible with conventional imaging.

Core Capabilities

Core Capabilities

Pushbroom Hyperspectral Cameras

Line-scan hyperspectral imagers covering UV, VNIR, NIR and SWIR spectral ranges, capturing hundreds of spectral bands simultaneously for detailed material characterisation.

Material Classification & Identification

Hyperspectral imaging enables reliable classification of materials with visually similar appearances but distinct spectral signatures — ideal for sorting, grading and contaminant detection.

Integrated Hyperspectral Systems

Complete turnkey systems including camera, lens, illumination and software — designed for laboratory and inline industrial deployment.

Chemical & Compositional Differentiation

Detect chemical composition, moisture content, ripeness and contamination where conventional RGB imaging cannot resolve material differences.

Multi-Spectral Band Processing

High spectral resolution combined with spatial imaging enables simultaneous spectral data collection across the full scene for per-pixel material analysis.

Agricultural & Food Inspection

Widely deployed in food safety, agricultural sorting and pharmaceutical inspection where precise material identification is essential to product integrity.
